Marco Di Bari (b. 1994, Florence, Italy) is a jazz guitarist, composer, sound engineer and educator based in Bern, Switzerland. His music brings together modern jazz with influences from traditional music, Latin American rhythms, and North European soundscapes. Early studies in classical and flamenco guitar had a lasting impact, and he continues to explore the guitar’s wide expressive range—electric, steel-string, nylon, classical, and flamenco—seeking out different textures and sonic shapes.

Improvisation plays a central role in Marco’s musical world, as a tool for interaction and emotional connection. His playing and writing reflect a balance between clarity and complexity, melody and abstraction, energy and stillness.

Marco has studied with a wide range of musicians including Ronny Graupe, Nelson Veras, Domenico Caliri, Chicuelo, and Rycardo Moreno for guitar, and Stefano Battaglia, Colin Vallon, Andreas Schaerer, Biliana Voutchkova, and Werner Hasler for composition and improvisation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Siena Jazz University, completed an Erasmus program in Barcelona focusing on flamenco and flamenco jazz, and earned a Master’s in Performance at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. He is currently completing a second Master's in Music Pedagogy.

In 2024, Marco was selected for the DKSJ All Stars ensemble under the direction of saxophonist Chris Cheek. The group toured Switzerland—performing in Basel, Lucerne, Bern, Lausanne, and Zurich—and recorded a live session for national radio.

He has performed at venues and festivals including Ronnie Scott’s (London), Jazzsí Club (Barcelona), Sala Vanni, Un Tubo Jazz Club, Vivifortezza / Siena Jazz Festival, Firenze Jazz Festival (Ultravox Theater), Accademia Chigiana, Villa Vecchia, Ingorgo Sonoro, Bern Jazz Festival, and Marianne’s Jazz Room.

His current projects include Liminal, a quartet performing his original compositions (with Benjamin Jaton, Joshua Le Blanc‑Demers, and Lucien Palak) that debuted as a resident band in Marianne’s jazz tent for Bern’s Jazz Festival; Tersa, his solo project; Laama, an international group with Finnish saxophonist Lasse Ammann, Maxence Nappez, and Nil Flükigher; the Michael Dubi Quintet, featuring Xavier Kaiser, Livia Lockridge, and Lorenzo Blardone; and an acoustic duo with singer Marie-Flo Burki.

Marco is available for live performances, teaching, studio sessions, and creative collaborations.
